Shaq backs Atlanta-based workforce startup
An Atlanta-based startup just landed a massive backer: former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal.
Steady, described as an "income-building platform for the Build-Your-Own workforce," officially launched last week and has raised $9 million in Series A financing round led by Propel Venture Partners. Steady said a significant part of that financing comes from the financial inclusion initiative at Omidyar Network, the impact investing firm established by Ebay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY) founder Pierre Omidyar.
Steady is built on the notion that work is changing, and that full-time jobs are giving way to more flexible arragements. The platform assists workers in finding and applying to income-building opportunities that match their availability, abilities, and interests.
