ATLANTA, Oct. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Steady, the income optimization platform created for America's rapidly growing independent workforce, won the Startup Pitch at Money20/20 in Las Vegas this week. Steady was one of 24 companies selected to compete in the Startup Pitch out of a total pool of 1,000 applicants. Startup Pitch is a popular component of the annual Money20/20 conference, which is attended by 11,000 leaders in banking, payments and FinTech.
Although this new-found career freedom has yielded some significant benefits, many workers are faced with dramatic ups and downs in income figures each month. That means the one thing missing from what is otherwise a great way to work is the stability that a 9-to-5 weekly or biweekly paycheck job offers.
An Atlanta-based startup just landed a massive backer: former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal.
Steady, described as an "income-building platform for the Build-Your-Own workforce," officially launched last week and has raised $9 million in Series A financing round led by Propel Venture Partners. Steady said a significant part of that financing comes from the financial inclusion initiative at Omidyar Network, the impact investing firm established by Ebay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY) founder Pierre Omidyar.
